Celebrating the Good Life, Tastes and Trends in Northern Virginia

World Read Aloud Day

February 1st marks World Read Aloud Day.  The goal of World Read Aloud Day is to encourage sharing stories, building community, and cultivating a love of reading and writing to help literacy skills grow stronger.  LitWorld think(s) everyone in the world should get to read and write. Every year, on World Read Aloud Day, people all around the globe read aloud together and share stories to advocate for literacy as a human right that belongs to all people.

If you’re not sure how to approach reading aloud to a person or a group, these are a few ideas from Lit World on how to have a successful read aloud.

Also, with it being the month of February which is a month that celebrates U.S. Presidents, Black  History, Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year, Fat Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Random Acts of Kindness Day, Ground Hog Day, and many more, there are so many events and occasions to read about.

If you are going a long car ride with a friend, what can be better than letting one person drive and the other read aloud from a book so that you enjoy two simultaneous adventures?   If you’re looking for a great book store in Northern Virginia, many book shops are open:
