Master Roller, or torcedor, Mr. Arian Castaneda is a Cuban with more than 10 years of cigar rolling experience in Cuba. Castaneda promotes the history and culture of cigars, from Hoplantation, curing, to rolling, packaging, storage, and smoking.

In the Summer/Fall issue of Northern Virginia Style & Living, Castaneda shares his tips to better enjoy hand crafted and high quality cigars.  Cigar smoking begins with how you light it; he recommends  the cigar be toasted all the way around in a circular movement.

“Smoke outdoors in open space, ideally with a breeze.  Drink coffee to clear your palate.  The length of your cigar affects its flavor; shorter cigars are more concentrated.”  Castaneda says, “A cigar is about time and enjoyment.  Your cigar should be about its flavor and not its strength.”  To read more about Castaneda’s tips for cigar and spirit pairings, subscribe to Northern Virginia Style & Living.
